Prior to the firm’s formation, Ms. Moyles has served as trusted adviser and Intellectual Property Counsel for Fortune 50 companies, large law firms, and most recently as acting Chief IP Counsel for small to mid-sized companies. In her most recent role, she served as a consultant to a mid-sized company that could not afford to hire a full, or even part-time, attorney.
As Chief IP Counsel, Ms. Moyles developed and maintained an IP budget that grew from around $200K/year in 2008, to $600K/year in 2010 while implementing numerous savings initiatives, such as managing work directly, evaluating and abandoning various patent filings; transferring to a lower cost annuity provider (38% savings), selecting a new patent searching software provider, transferring the US patent estate to a lower cost, more attentive US counsel (20% savings), and implementing new docketing system for greater transparency.
In addition, Ms. Moyles prepared and prosecuted patent and trademark applications, prepared and negotiated IP-related agreements, drafted as well as managed production of freedom-to-operate opinions, and provided training on various legal issues, including IP and trade secrets. It was in this role that the concept for Moyles and Tremblay Law, LLC was formed.
